Colour Dance
Colour Dance is Back by popular demand !
Explore it for yourself at the Oxford Dance Camp Fri 1st- Sunday 10th August
What is It?
Colour Dance is the partnership of colour therapy with expressive movement and music to explore and discover how colour affects our moods, emotions and cakras.
How does it work?
The space is flooded with a single coloured light
we take time to focus within on how this colour makes us feel
using a vast array of musical instruments, musicians, drums and percussion we express both musically and with movement and voice how this colour makes us feel.
we come back in a circle to share what we felt
What does it do?
It helps us to discover for ourselves how colours make us feel- thus we can use this in everyday life to enhance our environment and moods
many healers gain useful insights into the true effects of colour on healing and emotions, rather than sticking to the outdated, dogmatic idea of there being set rainbow colours dedicated to set chakras ( correctly spelt cakras)
we get to dance and make music together which is totally improvised, boundary less , inspired by a single colour
we allow ourselves to be as loud, wild, sad, angry, vulnerable, ecstatically happy, silly and fun as we dare in a safe and nurturing environment where everything we do is correct.
we push our own boundaries and try new instruments, moves, and interactions in a fun and sharing way, discovering our similarities and differences in how colours effect us.
What will we Gain from it?
The most fun, and freedom I've felt for a long time
an amazing experience
I never knew I could dance like that and shout so loud
it felt really tribal , almost animal like
I never realised colours could have such an effect on me
its like it wasn't me dancing ,I was carried by the music like a tree in the breeze
I got completely lost in sounds of the gong
How do different colours make you feel?
You really do need to experience it for yourself as as the same colour effects different people in different ways and even the same colour can effect the same person in a different way on a different day depending on your energy and moods, but here are some examples of what people have found so far:
Yellow
light and skippy
happy and sunny
I couldn't help laughing and giggling
it made me feel sick it was revolting
Red
stompy like a big animal
womblike , safe and warm
really hot and angry
tribal and loud drumming
caveman energy, very earthy
Blue
cold and stillness
watery like a fish swimming
floaty and light and gentle
challenging
not sure
I wanted to sing a lot
