“Heart Beats”
“Get REAL” bringing Art to the heArt ( Ronni's Experiential Arts and Learning.)
Heart Beats is the new look drumming circles that have expanded out of North Curry to Taunton and Wellington. They have evolved into much more than just drumming circles and are now:
A social gathering - with lovely friendly people from all backgrounds
A jamming session - with lots of other instruments eg. didgeredoo, flutes, keyboards etc.
A meeting of hearts - where we are all open to sharing fun, laughter and self expression, with and without verbal communication, and sharing the same “heart beat” when we play together.
A place of connection - both with ourselves, our inner rhythms, and each other. Drumming unlocks our DNA coded knowledge, helping us to connect with our ancestral roots.
A place of healing - “Djembé” (the name for the West African Drums we use) means healing. The base sound and vibrational wavelengths produced do have a healing effect on the body.
A “family” experience - drumming is ideal for families as it transcends all ages and “roles” and is a levelling experience where egos, traditional roles and expectations are dispersed leaving a meeting place of equality. (Ronni used to run up to six sessions every week at Center Parcs purely with families for five years which proves what a popular and sucessful family experience this is.)
“A tribal experience” - many people say that drumming makes them want to dance. It helps us to let go of our modern mindsets and tap into a more physical, primal expression and discovery of who we are.
A spiritual experience - drumming and playing together in a supportive circle using wooden instruments with animal skins and listening to your higher self can be a profoundly spiritual experience. People often describe it as meditative.
